Hole template

A full-size strip showing the sound hole, each finger hole and the direction holes for the design you made in the calculator. Tape it along the top of the glued flute, line up the sound hole, and punch each crosshair with an awl.

  1. In the print window, set the scale to 100% or Actual size (not "Fit to page").
  2. Measure the square on each page. It must be exactly 1 inch. If it isn't, check the scale setting and print again.
  3. Trim and tape the pages where the shaded bands match.
  4. Center the strip on top of the flute and line up the sound-hole mark with your sound hole. Holes are placed from the sound hole, so that mark matters most.
  5. Punch each crosshair. The solid circle is the starting size; the dashed circle is about where it ends after tuning.
